#FureverFriday: Rollins and his adoption story

Rollins 1 new

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – a RESCUED #dog – get to tell my story: My name is Rollins (@rollinsthepit), and I’m a 4 year old #pitbull. I’m named after #HenryRollins, one of Dad’s favorite musicians/authors. He’s a badass like me, for sure! One day in #Atlanta, Georgia – back when I was little and skinny – I crawled under a semi-truck that was making a delivery because I was alone and scared. Fortunately, my Dad saw me and pulled me out. He gave me some water and tied me up for a few minutes so he could think. (He tells me now he did not want a dog, but I knew I had him the moment he looked in my eyes.) He took me home (he’s such a good guy when it comes to rescuing dogs and always takes them to shelters when he finds strays), fed me in the garage, and gave me a bath because I was covered in ticks. The next day he took me to the vet to see if I was chipped and listed me as “Found Dog” – he kept thinking we weren’t meant to be together! But FINALLY, after a few days (and once I took down the FOUND DOG signs all over the neighbor and internet), he realized I wasn’t going anywhere and decided to keep me. We have a crazy bond – I am his, and he is mine – and we do everything together. We love hiking, playing ball, working on motorcycles, and watching movies. I also love snuggling so tell all the ladies! Dad says I have taught him so much – like the importance of patience, understanding, and unconditional love – but he has taught me a lot, too. I am so grateful he’s my Pop and best friend! I already have a #furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting any of our friends you met this week, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet my King’s mama @kelsey_cruz. There are so many ‪#‎dogs in need of a home, and we would jump (literally) at the chance to connect you to them. Every Friday, King drops the mic for an adopted friend of his to share his/her story. If you want to share yours, contact him. And remember, #KING is #wheredogsrule.

#FureverFriday: Ponyboy and his adoption story

IMG_0950(1).jpg

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted #dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Ponyboy (@the.prancing.ponyboy), and I am a #pitbull #boxer (just like my buddy #King). I don’t remember everything before being adopted, but I do remember loneliness, fear, and hunger. It was #NYC in #August, and the heat hurt my feet and made me so tired but I had to press on and find #food. Fortunately, people from @nycacc found me, brought me to a #kennel, and asked me to do a lot of things to test me. I wanted to make them #happy, so I jumped a lot and tried to wag my tail, but I was so hungry I kept falling. (I only weighed 20 pounds that #summer.) The day my mom came to the #shelter, they told her they weren’t sure where I had come from. They thought I had escaped from a fighting ring or that I was abandoned, but since I had been found on the street, there was no way to know for sure. She seemed unsure because the tag on my kennel said I needed lots of mental stimulation, and she was a first time #pet owner. But when she came up to me, I jumped and put my paws against her hands and said “Please” with my eyes and tilted head. That was that; my mom took me home the next day, and I have been the happiest #boy ever since. I #love #food, laying on my mom while she reads, road trips with my parents, and hiking. Most of all, I love people. Even though they have hurt me, they have also loved and saved me. I am a #therapy dog and help autistic children, veterans, and the elderly. Soon after my mom got me, she decided a name must have a meaning. She always thought she’d name her dog #Sodapop from #TheOutsiders, but when got to know me, she decided on #Ponyboy. She says I stayed gold. I already have a #furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting any of our friends you met this week, get at me, dawg! #FureverFriday: Alexander Benjamin and his adoption story

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Alexander Benjamin (holla at me on Instagram @alexanderbenjamin_), but you can call me Alex or Bennie. I am a four year old #Labrador #Retriever, and I have two other Black Lab brothers named #Symon and #Jameson. On August 15, 2011, my now-parents made a quick trip to @Petco for some treats, and when I saw Jameson, I wanted to play with him. My now-mom started talking to my then-caretaker and found out that I was going to have to go to a #shelter if I didn’t find a #home soon. You see, my caretaker was very young, and her parents didn’t approve of her having a #dog. In fact, a friend of hers had gotten me when I was just a few weeks old and then after a few months, when they decided they didn’t want me anymore, they were going to take me out back and shoot me! Isn’t that horrible?! Anyway, one week later, my parents picked me up and brought me home. They were a little hesitant because they already had two dogs, but decided they couldn’t resist me and didn’t want to risk something bad happening to me. I am so grateful they came to @Petco that day; – they saved me life! I love playing with my brothers, looking at myself in the mirror, playing ball, going for walks, traveling, and swimming. Snap peas, carrots, celery, and chicken are my favorite #foods, and I could eat them EVERY DAY! I love my #family and #home and wish all #dogs could be this #blessed! I already have a furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting any of our friends you met this week, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet King @wheredogsrule. #FureverFriday: Orion Chai Desai and his adoption story

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted #dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Orion Chai Desai, and I’m a 1.5 year old #Norfolk #terrier mix. I was given up twice before I found refuge with my current #family because in my first #home, I bugged my #Shihtzu brother too much, and in my second home, I peed too much and everywhere. I was still a puppy then – gimme a break! Anyway, this time around, I vowed to do it right (and I did)! I was in the shelter (@AustinAnimalCenter) for less than two hours when my current #minions (@orionchai) found me. They thought I was #cute, scrappy, and fearless (I didn’t #bark although EVERYONE around me did), and they took me home that very day. Well, first, we went to @petsmart, and they got me a comfy crate, bed, #toys, and yummy #food! (Can you tell I’m spoiled?) That first night – to show how much I love and appreciate them for rescuing me – I peed on their sofa and bed and threw up my food. Ahh, I live the life! I #LOVE playing with big #dogs (Mom says I’m a big dog at #heart), napping on the sofa, and eating peanut butter, apples, and cabbage. My best friends (besides my parents) are my toy named #Cow (I am running for President of the United Paws of America – please vote for me and Cow!) and my #GermanShepherd #brother named Quinn. (He could probably eat me, but I like that he doesn’t.) I know my minions love and spoil me, and I am so grateful they rescued me. I already have a #furever home, but if you are interested in‪#‎adopting any of our friends you met this week, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet King @wheredogsrule. #FureverFriday: Cornelius T Bear and his adoption story

connie(1).JPG

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted #dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Cornelius T Bear, and I’m a 13 year old #chihuahua. I was found as a stray wandering the streets on Pacific Coast Highway, and when I got to the #shelter (@lbanimalcare), I was missing most of my hair and teeth, and I had a heart murmur. (Mom says she saw my #picture on the shelter’s #Facebook page where I was listed two weeks past my “exit date.”) My parents already had one #rescue chihuahua, but they wanted to get her a #friend so they came to the shelter and saw me huddled in the corner of my cage, shaking. When Dad held me, I licked him on the nose – I was already in #love – and, apparently, so were they because I was rescued on #September 3, 2015 (BEST day EVER) by Mom @thevoidcalls and Dad. Like #King, I love #food – especially #yogurt and #chicken – and I love people, my pig ear chewie, chasing the #cat around, and burying myself in my blankey. I also lose my mind when Dad comes home, and I like to sit on his lap while he plays video games. My parents are grateful for me, but boy, am I grateful for them! Because of them, I have a warm, loving #home, a clean coat (my body was covered in a tar-like slime from living on the streets), and hair that is growing back. I already have a #furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting any of our friends you met this week, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet King @wheredogsrule. #Furever Friday: Jim and Bella and their adoption story

20151124_210952.png

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and we – two adopted dogs – get to tell our adoption story: Our names are Jim and Bella, we are 9 month old #American #Pitbull #Staffordshire #Terriers. (This #picture was taken right after we were rescued – we are much bigger now, but still obvs #adorable.) We were brought into this #world because the humans who had our biological #parents kept having #pups who we believe were bred to be fighting dogs. (We will never know for sure, but that was the feeling we got at our old #house.) We both had mange, and Jim had an awful lung infection that could have taken his life if our new #Mom and #Dad hadn’t taken us to the doctor immediately after our #rescue. My parents (Kristi and Eric) got a call about us on March 9, 2015. After they arrived and saw that we had been taken from our biological mom – where we lived in our own mess and feces and had never been held – our new Mom and Dad did some fast talking to get all of us away from those bad people. (Bella was kicked three times before she fell down the stairs and literally climbed up our Mom’s leg the first time she saw her.) Our Mom picked her up and promised to never put her back down. We have three siblings, and our parents found homes for all 0f them; fortunately, we still get to see them from time to time! We love following Mom around, eating #cheese, snuggling, playing #soccer, and trying to get into the bathtub while Mom showers. (And we are VERY popular on #Instagram – check us out at @thedilespits!) Yes, our parents rescued us, but Mom says that we rescued her. We already have a furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting #MamaSassy or #Ava or any of our other #friends you’ve met, get at us, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet King @wheredogsrule. There are so many ‪#‎dogs in need of a home, and we would jump (literally) at the chance to connect you to them. #FureverFriday: Tom and his adoption story

tom

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Tom, and I am an eight year old #JackRussellTerrier. I was born on February 17, 2007 and was adopted April 3, 2007, and I am extremely happy to have a #Dad who #loves me and a home to share with him (we live in #Belgium). I love going on walks and playing games, but I hate the rain! I also love sleeping and posing for pictures; I am VERY #popular on #Instagram – check me out @tom_le_jack! I am very happy in my home, and I know my Dad is also very happy I’m here. He wrote this in an email to King: “He makes me happy every day, and I hope that he will live a very long time.” I already have a furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting #Polly or #Hannah or any of our other friends you’ve met, get at me, dawg! #FureverFriday: Henry and his adoption story

IMG_20150525_194104

It’s #FureverFriday! Now normally another dog tells his/her adoption story so I can take a toy break, but everyone has been bugging me for my #rescue story so here it is: My name is #Henry, and I am a two year old #pitbull #boxer mix. (I know, I know, you thought my name was King, right? That’s my nickname because I rule the house. My parents call me #KingHenry – King for short – and my Mama even has a #crown tattooed on her wrist.) But before I was King, I was #Emery from @MorrisAnimalRefuge. A nice man took me to the #shelter after he found me tied up on a construction site in the #rain. Mama doesn’t know how long I was there, but she said it was at least two days because the man saw me one day, but left me there because he thought someone was coming back for me. Luckily, he came back and took me to Morris where I received lots of TLC, made tons of friends (obviously), and met my Mama. I remember the day we met like it was yesterday: She was wearing a ratty green sweatshirt and glasses (that I later destroyed), and I loved her the moment I saw her. Four days after we met (and after I was neutered), she took me home where I chewed her carpet, ate a lot of food, pooped and peed all over her apartment, slept a lot, ate some remote controls and my dog bed, threw up some remote controls and my dog bed, and fell madly in love with her and her #family and never looked back. I love bandanas, going on walks, destroying $13 toys in 6 minutes, sleeping under covers, and crying under the bed until someone plays with me. I am the #happiest boy in the world, and I want every #dog to know the #joy, #comfort, #warmth, and #love that comes from having a family. I already have a #furever #home, but if you are interested in #adopting #Bruce or #Poppy or any of my other friends you’ve met, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet me @wheredogsrule. There are so many #dogs in need of a furever home, and I would jump (literally) at the chance to connect you to them. Every #Friday, I drop the mic for an adopted #friend to share his/her rescue story. If you want to share yours, contact me. And remember, #KING is #wheredogsrule.

#FureverFriday: Juju and her adoption story

IMG_20151113_085922

It’s #FureverFriday so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted dog – get to tell my adoption story: My name is Juju (formerly Puff), and I was rescued from @MorrisAnimalRescue a few months ago by King’s GRANDPARENTS! (We actually haven’t met yet because he is very naughty and bouncy and goes after all of my Mom’s #snowmen, but I am hoping to meet him around the holidays.) I’m a #poodle mix that was found as a stray in north Philly, and after I was taken in, the staff at Morris discovered that not only had I been abandoned, but I was also pregnant. Sadly, I lost all my babies so I was heartbroken and scared at the shelter; I just didn’t know what to do. When Mom and Dad saw me at the shelter, they got really emotional because I look just like their old dog Copper who passed away. But after they thought about it and talked about, they believed it was fate that had brought them to Philly that weekend and decided to adopt me and bring some good “juju” into their home. After they picked me up, we all went to @doggiestylesprucest where they got me a nice bath and a new collar, leash, and toys. (I’m spoiled, for sure!) I love my family and am so grateful for them and the staff at Morris for giving me a furever home. I enjoy playing with my alligator Ally, taking walks with Dad, and jumping on Mom’s furniture (although she NEVER lets King do that when he’s there). I know Mom and Dad are very happy I’m here as well. They talk about me allllllllllllllll the time and send King’s mom pictures and snuggle me. I already have a furever home, but if you are interested in #adopting #Gordon or #Daphne or any of our other friends you’ve met, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet me @wheredogsrule. There are so many #dogs in need of a furever home, and we would jump (literally) at the chance to connect you to them. #FureverFriday: Jazzy Belle and her adoption story

jazzy

It’s ‪#‎FureverFriday‬ so King gets a toy break and I – an adopted dog – get to tell my adoption story (and my #sister Stella has to listen to me for a change): My name is Jazzy Belle, and I’m a four year old #pitbull (possibly also #labrador) mix. My daddy named me after a song from the band #Outkast, but you’ll often hear me lovingly referred to as #Jazz, #Jazzy, and #Moose. A few years ago, I lived in #Pennsylvania where my old owners knew three things: my birthday is October 25, my biological mom was an #AmericanPitBullTerrier, and they had too many dogs so they needed to get rid of one. They posted a #Craigslist ad for “a $30 Jazzy Belle” (I think I was QUITE the steal) that my lovely #Mom and #Dad saw, and the rest is history. We now live in #Atlanta where I get to play all day long with my parents and sister, Stella, a two year old #rescued #pocket #pitbull (check us out at @jazzyandstella). Even though a lot of people judge me because I’m a big pit mix (King knows how I feel, it’s a little disheartening), I’m incredibly sweet and soft-hearted. I LOVE to play with other #dogs, especially little dogs. I like to crouch down with my big butt sticking straight up in the air so that I can be at their eye level. I do play gentler with #senior dogs (like my 13 year old #Westie uncle), but I can move around pretty quickly WHENEVER there is a ball involved. I’m also very emotionally in tune with those I #love, and I know when someone needs a cuddle or two. I like to give kisses, sleep like a human in bed, and fart like an old man. I am also an avid hill-roller, peanut butter lover, superior cuddler, and I have the softest, dopiest, most velvety ears around (or so I’ve been told). If anyone’s ever in #Atlanta, come find us for a play date! I already have a furever home, but if you are interested in ‪#‎adopting‬ any of our friends you’ve met this week, get at me, dawg! Comment or DM me here or tweet King @wheredogsrule. There are so many ‪#‎dogs‬ in need of a home, and we would jump (literally) at the chance to connect you to them.
